I've been using Nikon Coolpix 5400. It's a great camera, nice features. Normally when I don't use the camera I remove the batteries. Recently there was a period when I did not use the camera for about a month. When I put in the battery I noticed that the internal clock had been reset and all my menu customization was lost. OK this is because the internal batt got drained. But curious things started happening on the LCD display. It had purple patches in the image preview. Sometimes the patches clear but appear again. The final image that I shoot is OK except for a light purple band on top in some images. Why should this happen and how is it related (if at all) to the internal batt being drained. Any help fellas?
I have attached an image I shot recently. Notice the light purple band on top. |

There is a nice site which explains CCD problems. Here it is http://www.siowl.com/index.html?CCDp...DProblems.html
I have a basic idea now about what's wrong with my camera. I'm just hoping that things don't degenerate so much so that I have to replace the CCD. That is a costly affair.. |
