Hi
Basicaly im asking for the help of the Forum users to either take a series of images from 18mm to 800mm of the same sceen to give an example of the Zoom ability on different lens in xxxmm or To link to a site that gives a side by side sample of 18mm-800mm so me and less knolegable users can see which lens will be the best buy for our use Thank you so much for your time, and help! |

They were exactly what i was looking for! ![]() One other question that has croped up due to it though: Macro Macro on my FinePix s7000 lets me get realy close to objects (if the lens is next to the object) but if your in macro you cant shoot anything thats like a few feet away as its all blured... On that second site it states some of the lens are 300mm Macro (yet the image shows a close up of a building thats quite a distance away just like you would expect with a zoom lens?) Thanks again for your time! |

With an SLR camera there are a number of lenses that have a macro capability. Strictly speaking macro is the ability to shoot at a ratio of 1:1 so that the subject is the same size as the sensor (or film). Many so called macro lenses don't actually focus this close and give ratios of 1:2 or 1:3. These lenses will work from their closest focus out to infinity. I have 50mm and 100mm macro lenses, I can use them for extremely close work or as a normal lens for portraits or scenic shots. A similar focal length lens without the macro capability just won't focus as close.
