Default 5.0 MP - Did my Homework - couple ???

I am looking for a 5.0 Mp camera, not point and shoot, not SLR.

I have done my homework but still wanted some opinions:

I am an amateur at best but I definitely want to learn and grow with my purchase.

First, primary uses of my camera:

-Outdoors, nature and hopefully wide landscapes.
-Architecture and people - city shooting
-Maybe less, Indoors, friends and family etc.

***Image quality is important because I want to print and blow up photos to max size possible in some cases**

I will likely by a wide angle and telephoto lens ad-ons.

On most of these cameras there is complaint of lots of noise, can this be removed post processing at all?

Coolpix 5400

Any others in this price range you suggest... Dimage etc.

Thanks again for helping me with this big decision, and yes, I am realistic and realize that all cameras in the digital world represent a compromise in one regard or another.

yes noise can be reduced/removed with neat image. it is currently the best on the market. be careful though if too much "noise" is removed some detail will be lost. life is not smooth with perfect curves and planes. i even use it with my 1Ds.

if image Q and blow ups and possibly cropping are your thing i suggest you look towards a Dslr like at minimum D100 or 10D. there is a difference in the image from a digicam.

in the wide landscape realm none of the cams you mentioned went below a 35mm equivelent except the 5400. where at least the D7 series goes down to 28mm eq. i'm not a believer in add on lenses. they have demonstrated their ability to deteriorate the image quality.
