I posted this also in the Canon section.

I was recently doing some still-life shots in low light. I was using aperture priority auto mode and I was dismayed to find that my Canon Powershot Pro 1 would not give me an exposure longer than one second. Is this a fault with the camera, or a design issue?

On purpose...Olympus is the same way (except 1/2 second).
If you want longer, you'll have to go to manual mode.
Normal.

Try shutter priority - that might override the 1 second barrier. Although manual should override everything. Most manufacturers will take some measures to prevent those who inadvertantly set settings that are outside the scope of normal usage. Even DSLR have some of these restrictions in auto modes.

Thanks guys. I'm pleased to know that the camera is not at fault. I was just being lazy anyway. I should have been using manual exposuremodefor that job. :-)
