Hi. I like my new canon camera, power shot S2 IS,but wish it had an accessory flash shoe. Has anyone had experience with the auxillary flash, that connects on the bottom and the side? I am wondering if it flashes as needed, if it knows when to flash or not? Things like that. I know it is new,but I think I need more flash in low light situations. Any thoughts would be helpful. I have tried night shot scene, with flash, and don't get the results I want. Thanks

Look for a flash bracket. They screw into the tripod mount on the camera bottom and if your camera has a pc terminal you can plug a flash with a pc cord and designed for your camera into that and have full automatic functionality. If your camera doesn't have a pc terminal ("pc" doesn't stand for "personal computer". I forget what it stands for, but my 35-year-old Minolta has one.), you can check out slave flashes.
Most flash brackets I've seen in adds are pretty pricey -- even cheap ones seem to be in the $30.00 range. I got a cool used one at a local camera repair place for ten bucks. It looks new.

Thanks for the reply. The only flash for the canon power shot S2 IS is $129. Do you know any cheaper way to get one to work with my camera?
