Anyone use Beach Camera, either store or eBay ordering?
How did the transaction go- positive or negative? I ordered a camera lens and was shipped the wrong lens and as such I now have to go thru the return process......very dissatisfied transaction. I've been told I would be sent out the correct lens as soon as they receive my return. I think I'll stick to B&H, they have their act together and don't seem to suffer these errors that cause inconveniences. Has anyone had positive dealings with Beach Camera? |

I've ordered from them and not had a problem. THey also have a pretty positive rating on resellerratings.com. But any business can make a mistake - the key is how easy they make it to get a replacement. If they cover the cost to re-ship and have quick turn-around, that's the best you can get. After a number of years and quite a few amazon.com purchases I finally had a bad shipment. But they still get my business as they handled the issue pretty well.

Well to be fair they are handling the return quite well- I just don't suffer fools (or easily avoidable errors) well. They have provided me with a FedEx Return form for easy return....so in that regard they have been good.
Reputation is everything online and I recall "Beach Camera" as being one of those "Brooklyn" shops that were very well known for bait & switch tactics as well as grey-market items and inflated "accessory" items you "had" to buy........so I hope Beach is a different outfit today and gains a reputation for good service......a bad past is hard to hide! |

I have ordered from them online once or twice but seeing how I live 20 minutes from their retail store I usually just drive there, seems like its on the way to somewhere sooner or later. They have always treated me well and the 1 return I did with them in person was hassle free, they didnt bat an eye and at least for walk in they will price match B&H or Adorama. Bought a couple pieces of glass from them that they didnt have in the store and sent me to Edison where the bulk of the stock is kept and they ship web orders from (even closer to home) and I picked it up there no worries.
I understand your ill feelings but in the same respect everyone makes mistakes and some times you get to be the bird and others the windshield, was just your turn to get the 1 in 10,000 draw. The best part is they are going to fix it and I bet if you nudge the issue a little you could possibly get an incentive. ![]() |
