Default Best camera for outdoor action shots - S30 or DSC-P71?

I currently own a Canon A20. I have been trying to take snowboarding pictures (mostly jumps) but have found it very frustrating, do to the slow autofocus, shutter lag and lack of manual focus. I am considering the Canon S30 or Sony P7 or P71. I will manualy focus ahead of time to avoid the focus lag. Which camera is best for this type of action shots. I want to spend $200 - $400. The camera must be able to fit in my pocket (no bigger than my current A20)

A suggestion, that you look for a camera that also has a "drive" function, the ability to shoot several pictures in a row (click-click-click) as there will be little lag between shots...better cameras can take more than one picture a second. That might mean going to a bigger camera.
