Have you looked at Adobe Video Bundle? It's $2,099. Is that expensive enough?

For image editing, most would probably go with Adobe Photoshop.

For video editing the choice is not so easy. There are many very good packages, including:

Adobe Premier
Sony Vegas
Avid
Edius

Photo editing: adobe cs2
Video editing, ive tried a bunch, but stuck with Pinncale studio 9 plus. its very easy to use and its not a resource hog. ive tried pinnacle studio 10. i dont like it, it eats up your processor needs alot more processing power, and they didnt change much.
adobe premier would be my second choice tho for video.

some people like paintshop pro for image editing, my personal i dont like it, but its up to the end user.
