Hi, has any Euro members here ordered products from US photo retailors such as

http://www.adorama.com/

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/

I am curious as to how much import tax would be applicable?

Or maybe someone can let me know, if there are any similar retailors based in Europe.

thanks

You could try Calumet Photo, they have stores in the States as well as in Europe. We ordered background paper from the Germany based store and it was a pretty good price.

Try http://www.calumetphoto.de

This is an old thread but I thought i would bump it up because I just called the German customs (Zollamt) last week about this. They told me that its a 19% Vat tax on any cameras coming into europe. In January, or soon at least (can't remember the exact date), the import tax is going up. From what i read on the web, you can get exemptions for educational purposes but I'm not sure how it works and my german wasn't good enough to ask.

I think it varies depending ont he country you're in as well, because (like the UK) also charge 'import duty' on top of the VAT :S

Ah, thanks for clarifying that part - I had forgotten - the custom people here in Germany did say that there would be no import duty on it, just VAT. Its good to know if there are other countrys that do not have that exemption. :)
