Is it okay to use a camera bag for storage for all my gear. I am speaking about lenes, batteries, camera body and on....

Where are you going to put the bag and what material is the bag made of? You want to avoid humid and dark conditions which will encourage fungus and corrosion. Many bags will make those conditions worse.

Also depends on what one means by storage.... me that is rarely over 12-18 hours....

Weeks, months another mater depending on the enviromental conditions.

Good rule of thumb do not store you gear where mushrooms would grow well :-)

I have a lot of equipment so not all will fit in my camera bags. I do keep everything I can in them mostly to protect them from dust and accidently getting knocked of the shelf by some rampaging kids. I also keep a few desiccant packets in each back to keep moisture at bay and keep all my equipment in a cool dry place. If I've been out shooting in damp weather I leave everything open a few days to make sure everything is good and dry. I have an old AE-1 film camera and a couple of lens that have been stored away in a camera bag I just pulled it out to see what the condition was, and it is just as it was when I put it away a few years ago. Take proper precautions and your camera bag is probably the safest place to store your gear.
