Default Camera Recommendation (8x10 indoor picture)

We got a Sony camera (P72). The focus is soft for indoor pictures. Does anyone have any recommendations for a digital camera which will take good indoor pictures? I noticed in some of the reviews that the focus was still not quite right even for some cameras with autofocus assist. Would a better lens help? We took pictures at the 3x setting and printed them out as 8x10 photos. Maybe we are expecting too much from the camera.

The amount that you zoomed in should not effect the image quality, unless of course you are using digital zoom (shutters). You definitely are not expecting too much, though a digicam will not reach the quality of film anytime soon, for the cost of digicams, they should put in a decent focusing system. A camera with an af assist should help it focus better in low light. I suggest the a70 which has the af assist and many other features. Some claim the a70 produces soft images, but i have heard countless testimonials in favor of this camera (and there is even a post from a month or so back with a similar problem and i believe the a70 was eventually chosen).
