Hi, I have just bought my first digital camera. Is there any subjects that can damage the sensor, ie bright light etc. I haven't been able to find any information as yet.

Best Regards, Alex.

I have seen posting where people say it is safe to point at the sun, however I wouldn't make a habit of it. It won't hurt the lens but damage to the CCD or electronics might be possible. Definitely DO NOT look through the viewfinder while pointing at the sun. The damage to your eyes cannot be repaired.

Note--I am referring to midday bright sunlight. Sunrises and sunsets are safe because the light intensity is significantly lower than midday.

I wouldn't recommend pointing your camera at some celebrities, as they may become agressive and damage your camera  [email protected] those paparazzis, give us real photographers a bad rep
