I suspect that he copied the specs from the 4500 review, for the 4300 macro performance comments (and forgot to change the coverage area).

You might be right about Dave confusing the specs.

1.6 inches is still pretty close unless you are shooting the gears in a watch.

For the price of a new 4500 you can get the 4300 plus the special circular light for macro work. I think the combination would be great for what joe k is doing:

Of course the 4500 plus the light would be even better, but that exceeds his budget by a little.
