I've posted this in the newbie board but have not received any responses, so I thought I would post in here...
:?: I'm finally going to break down and purchase a simple digital camera...have used 35mm point & shoots forever, and now with a new baby I want to send good quality pics over email and also print out up to 5x7 prints and perhaps an occasional 8X10. I've researched a number af cameras and narrowed it down to two models (my price range is between $175 - $225) The Fujifilm 2650 and the Kodak CX4230 cameras are my choices. I've compared these to each other and they both seem the same, except for the following differences: 1. The Kodak has a button right where your thumb normally rests when taking pictures. 2. The Fuji has the ability to make movies (not important for me) 3. The Fuji uses proprietary memory cards $$$? 4. The resolution selections differ from both cameras, although they are close: Fuji 640x480 1280x960 1600x1200 Kodak 816x816 1184x888 1632x1232 I'm looking for a camera that will take great pictures but simple to use, without alot of bells & whistles. I don't care about the amount of photos a card will hold, as long as I can take at least 20 pictures at highest resolution without having to replace the batteries midstream. Any thoughts on these two cameras? Which one would you recommend going with? Thanks. |

Just to clear something up, xD isn't a proprietary memory card format...it's a new format to replace the limited capacity smartmedia format. Also, it's used by multiple camera manufuacturers. It will cost more right now because it is a new format.
An example of a proprietary format would be the Sony Memory Stick as it is only used by Sony products. |
