Does anyone know what the law says about photography in Canada,Ontario,Toronto ? Is there a resource some where that I can read or download regarding photography laws and the rights of the photographer ?
I was out today and felt like I was in the Twilight Zone. I went by the Don Jail and was approached that taking pictures of the building was illegal ! It was fine to take pictures of the OLD building BUT the NEW building was being used and illegal to take pictures of it from the out site ?? A few hours later I was on queen street and thought the Street Car looked JUST right for a picture. While setting the camera up as the Street Car stopped the operater jumped out and exclaimed it ILLEGAL to takes pictures of Street Cars ?? If that were not enough I walked by a movie shoot and decided to take pictures of the vehicles and props. Again I was told this was illegal ?? What are the laws in Canada regarding photography and the photographer ? Does anyone know ? I was always under the assumption if its PUBLIC its FREE for all. Imperialism= A Dictatorship= Communism = Capitalism= Free Country = THERE IS NO SUCH THING ! If you are in Dought just look to the South. US citizens are bound to certain areas for traveling ( DEMOCRACY RIGHT ). If you like you can view the ILLEGAL Canadian pictures here. http://www.videosilva.com/DV/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=243 I would not want to post any ILLEGAL content on this site ![]() -------------- Paul Silva. Come to Detroit and try to take pictures of the Detroit Tunnel or Ambassador bridge up close. You will be asked about it. I can see taking pictures of a jail would be illegal. A street car sounds a bit much. However, even in NYC they have some strange laws on taking pictures after 9/11.

I live in Windsor Ontario, right across the creek from Detroit, andlast summer Detroit hosted the MLB all star game, and I was taking pictures of the coast guard boats with machine guns, (really looking for a fighter jet flyby) but anyhow, the Windsor Police boat came up and while they didn't say anything to me, they were definately watching me and my actions.
There was one time as well I took a series of pictures of the Ambassador Bridge at night. I thought the contrast of the lights and the dark night would turn out nice. Again nothing was said to me, by anyone of importance, but there were a number of drivebys by police, and "security" and a number of passerby's talked with me about what I was doing... It is definately a different era nowadays, everyone is being watched, and everyone is skepital and aware of "suspicious" things such a simply taking a picture |

I'll repeat it for you:
"US citizens are bound to certain areas for traveling ( DEMOCRACY RIGHT)." " Are you talking about my comment concerning US citizens and where they allowed and NOT allowed to go ??" Videosilva, Where can't I go? the Hun |
