Can anyone help me use the canon pro1 camera please.. i'm lost n confused. I'm trying to figure out how to blur my background using the portrait mode, but its not working n the AV mode as well as the manual Mode.. trying to blur the background is not working for me...can anyone help me figure this camera out, any help is greatly appreciated.... thanx n have a good day...

About all you can do is use apeture priority and use the widest opening (lowest no.)

Also try to get more distance between your subject and the background. Most digital cameras have a much greater depth of field than film cameras due to the small ccd.

Unfortunately digital cameras because of their smaller diameter optics have an increased depth of field versus a 35mm film camera. The best way to get minimal depth of field (blurred backgrounds in portraits) is to shoot at the telephoto end of the zoom in Aperture-priority mode using the smallest f-number. Most of us are also quite profficient at using Photoshop to create blurred backgrounds because of this depth of field "problem."
