I currently own a FinePix 2400 digicam and want to change it for something SMALL.

I narrowed my choice between the Canon SD110and theCasio EX-Z40.

+ A little bit smaller
+ Canon
+ Cheaper
+ Comes with an "external" charger
- ONLY 2x zoon
- Battery last shorter than the Casio

+ 4Megapixel ( but not really important for me)
+ Battery life will be more than enough to fill out my 256mo SD card
+ Bigger LCD
- Cost $100 CAN more
- Casio ... I think Canon got a better reputation in digicam... am I right ?
- Craddle .. You have to bring it with you and can't recharge a 2nd battery as you would with the Canon

I already own a Lexar 32x 256Mo SD card and I dont want to buy anything else than the digicam for now ... maybe an extra battery if I buy the SD110

My use will be taking pictures !!indoor and outdoor... I wont be printing them often. I need a good MACRO quality. Taking movies is fun but not crucial. I think it will be mostly 1600*1200

Looking at pictures samples in the reviews, I think the SD110 takes a little bit more quality pictures ...

What would you suggest ?

For now, I think i'll go for the Canon

I personally find 2X to be limiting. Since it is starting at a medium wide angle you get only a 35mm equivalent of 70 as your max zoom. In 35mm cameras a 50mm focal length is considered a "normal" lens but 58mm is actually 1:1. You don't have much telephoto with 70mm.

The Pentax S4 is still being sold and might be price competitive in Canada – I don't know about that. It doesn't use a cradle and has a decent feature set.

I have a couple of cameras with 3X zoom and find I take a fairly large number of pictures at 3X. 3Mp exacerbates the 2X zoom limitation by giving you fewer pixels to crop from. But the SD110 has some nice features if 2X is enough for you.

I also find 2x limitating ... I'm now thinking of goingwith the S410 ...It's 150$ CAN more but it's not that much for something that will last for few years
