Default CCD aging

Hi, I have a Kodak DC4800. I've been playing with it for about 2 years 1/2 now and some month ago, a hot pixel appeared. Now, I really believe that more and more are appearing, specially when shooting in low-light conditions. I will buy something more powerfull before long but there's a question I can't get out of my mind. I know that CCD gets hot and dead pixels as they are aging but is there a study concerning this? I mean, are there some compagnies better than others for the durability of the CCD? Are there some special care that I can take to extend the life of the CCD? Can we find by ourself who manifacture the CCD of a model of digital/SLR camera? I'm looking the the Canon Digital Rebel...

Thanks for you answers!
