Default Color reproduction for large format printing???

I'm trying to decide on an image capture method for printing to an Epson large format printer (9600). First I wanted to use a digi-cam, but a photographer friend insisted we'd never get the color or resolution we need for such a large print. So, we tried a 4x5 camera with tungsten lights and tungsten film, but the color still isn't perfect. Now I'm looking at the Nikon CoolPix 5 megapixel cam. Anyone have any suggestions??

One thing to consider is to rent a camera to see how it works. Some places will apply a portion of the rent to the cost of buying it.

I would suggest reading this post about resolution and print size. Lin knows what he is talking about:

It doesn't address you color question/issue, but it covers some of what you're asking.
