Default Compact Flash Advice

Is it better to get a 256mb Compact Flash card over 2 x 128mb cards?

P.S. Are Viking a good brand?

I much prefer a single card. I donít like swapping them out in the field and the single card is usually a little faster. Viking is a good brand but there are speed ratings to consider. The only major brand that seems to be consistently slow with their basic cards are Sandisk. Sandisk fast cards are fine.

The flip side of Slipe's view is that if one card goes bad/gets jammed, having a second card allows you continue taking photos.

It's happened to me on occasion so I always take two cards - the 1GB stays in the camera and I have two 32MB cards in the bottom of my bag. I'd have to reduce the number of pictures I take and lower the quality but at least I'd get some shots.
