Default Conflict between Epson R300 and HP 882Deskjet

I received the Epson R300 as a birthday present a few weeks ago and I am very pleased. I checked it out against all the major brands using my photo card and my photo paper while in various stores. I like it much better than the HP Photo Inkjets.

Here is my question. I am trying to use my HP 882 Deskjet for everyday printing, like text and so on. I want to save the R300 for printing my digital photo's. But here is my problem. With both printers hookd up to my pc, when I go to use the Epson, it hangs up and freezes after just a couple of passes on my photo paper. I was told by Epson that there is a conflict between the two printers, and to turn off the status monitor on the HP. Does anyone know where that is located and how to disable?

Hope this is a bit more clear.

PS Has anyone found a way to order the 2.5" monitor for the R300?
