Crying over spilled pop

Hi,
Hope there's an easy way out of dilemma! My Grandson spilled his soft-drink in Grandma's purse and some got the Sony Cyber-shot 7.2. Now the shutter blades will barely open or close and the camera is almost useless.
Is there some way we can clean this ourselves or must is be taken to a pro?

Here's hoping.
Thanks,
Bob

I'd say it's easier and cheaper to replace it.

Try this: a hair dryer, very soft for some minutes. Very soft, very smooth. Warm temperature, not hot. Batteries off, card off. Just a shot... may work. Good luck.

Reminds me of an old SNL skit called 'The Pepsi Syndrome' .

One possible way, which I haven't tried, and can't vouch for, would be to immerse camera in an ultrasonic cleaner using non-water-based solution.
