I just posted a reply further up, but go here read about it and download their basic monitor setup software, don't forget room lighting makes a lot of difference.

I prefer to edit with as little background light as possible, and usually work evenings when the room is lit by a controlled amount of artificial light.

Revisiting this once again. Looking for a driver in the CD that came with my PC motherboard I noticed this program called 3Deep that said is meant for monitor calibration. :shock:

I gave it a try and suddenly all those dark pictures came back to life right in my own monitor. Heck, even a bit brighter than the printed ones. :roll: So the monitor was to blame indeed!!
