Is their any digital camera's on the market that have a external flash?

Nothing too expensive

There are many point and shoot and dSLRs that have either hotshoes or cable connections to external flashes.

Are you leaning towards a particular brand of camera?

Nothing specific. Something digital and not a arm and a leg.

Look for cameras with flash hot-shoe. Usually the hot-shoe is only found on some of the prosumer, amateur photographer oriented, cameras. In other words, you won't find too many low-end cameras with hot-shoe. However, you should be able to find an older prosumer model that doesn't cost too much.

To be clear – there are no digital cameras that come with an external flash unless you buy some kind of package. And most of those are overpriced. They come with connectors so you can buy an external flash and use it on the camera.

If you want a small camera you can carry around easily when not using the external flash look at the Sony V1. All of the higher end digital cameras come with a hotshoe. You might find something cheap in an older model they haven't removed from the market yet.

Can't you get a flash that will detect when another flash fires and just fire then?

There are problems with this (pre-flashes) but I thought this was an option as well.

Most cameras can use a remote that triggers from the camera flash. Some cameras evidently use a pre-flash for the metering, and those you can't use the remote with. Since the camera metering can't cut the remote off you would need manual exposure modes I would think.

I don't think it is practical for most uses except for static situations.
