I?m considering taking my digital camera (Sony DSC-F707) instead of a film camera to England this summer. Can the portable AC battery charger be used in the outlets labeled for electric shavers without damage to the charger or battery? Also, does anyone know if there are places in England where images can be transferred from the memory stick to a CD, and then read using a PC upon returning to the States, without paying an exorbitant fee?

I would not plug a 110V. device into a shaver outlet. I could be wrong, but I believe they are 240V. I have been here for three months now and my shaver is both 110 and 240. But I think I would drag along a coverter. There cheap and handy. You might try Jessops for the down load problem. Or stop by my place if your in the neighborhood.

The transformer bricks on laptops and some other stuff can do either voltage. It would say right on the transformer if it can.
You can buy a converter, they're not cheap or small but may be worth it. |

I think you americans are the only ones who use the 110v plug.
All over the world the "normal" (:P) people use the 22v plug. |

Shaver Sockets are fine to use, the only problem you may have, is that they have current limiters in them, so the charge may be a bit slower charging than normal.
Sony normally supply switchable chargers. I brought my cammera in the US, and just changed the plug, works fine in any UK socket. |
