Default fuji finepix s700 flash problem fix

Recently the flash on my finepix s700 quit working. I found somewhat of a solution and I thought I'd post it here as I've learned that this is a fairly common problem with these cameras. It is a result of what I believe is a basic design flaw. When holding the camera with both hands, the fingers of the left hand just naturally grip the camera body on top of the pop up flash, which prevents the flash from popping up, causing the mechanism to break. I raised the flash manually, slid a rubber band around the flash, and pushed it down until it held the flash in the upright position. It's by no means pretty, but it works. As the camera is no longer under warranty, my only other options were to take the camera apart and attempt a complicated repair on my own,(not really an option) or take the camera to the shop and pay for a fairly expensive repair.
