Which do you think would be a better camera? My application would be traveling abroad in Western Europe.

Personally I find my Fuji S602 (the pre-cursor to the S7000, and largely identical) is far superiour to my friend's Z2. It looks feels like a much better camera, and gives much better performance, particularly when it comes to focusing speed and accuracy, in even pretty good lighting conditions.

The S7000 has it's share of problems (overly-compressed images, lack of compression settings on most MP levels, noise, etc.)... but the Z2 to ME, felt like it's made of cheap toy plastic. I was not impressed with the feel of it at all, and the inner mirror which switches between the LCD and viewfinder to me, is just one more moving part that can break. You can always use an image editor to enhance images that aren't up to stuff, but you can't fix a broken camera with photoshop.

If we're talking about choosing between these two cameras, I'd pick the S7000.
