How does one get the soft focus glow on a brides wedding dress. I use Photoshop CS, and would love a few tip please

Post some of your photos and maybe an example of a professional photo with the glow you are looking for.

Mike, have you tried the Filter tab and play around with the radius size.

after looking more closely I saw the whole picuture is soft, not just the dress.... I could probably mask it and such then paint out what I wanted soft, but I wondered if anyone did this kinda thing on a regular basis.... (as I haven't tried it)
How about a soft focus filter...(again too afraid to try it) |

You seem competent on layers and selections. You might try some of these methods and download his action set: http://www.nickgallery.com/web_pages/technical%208.htm
If you just want the dress soft I think it would be better to put the softened layer (flattened or merged down) under the sharp layer and just erase the dress on the sharp layer. Or select it and hit the Delete button. Don't be afraid to try anything. I save as a different file name from the gitgo so that the original won't be affected with an accidental save. Then you can do no harm. The history palette is a great help. |
