Yep, my lens has a HUGE smudge on it and would like to get something to clean it off with. I have some pre-moisturedwipes that I use for my glasses, would that work? On the package it says it's okay for lens, but is it safe?

If it's designed for eyeglasses (which often have delicate lens coatings -- especially the Anti-reflective type), then it would probably be fine for a camera lens, too.
Personally, I use the cotton t-shirt method of cleaning my lenses (including my eyeglasses and camera lenses), but many would argue that this is dangerous. Here's a recent thread on it: http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...amp;forum_id=2 |

Have you tried just breathing on it an using a proper lens cloth? I've never needed anything else.

Yep, both of those methods I used and somehow I get a large smudge every time.

Alphie-
If it is a "smudge" it probably has an oily or greasy ingredient to it. Eclipse fluid works well- along with a PEC pad. check your google for details. Works VERY well for most smudges. Most fluids/wet pads/etc. just thin out the smudge which attracts dirt and other debris. Eclipse evaporates the oil residue and the pad absorbs it. try to avoid running it through the dishwasher in spite of what CASCADE says !! |

I use Eclipse lens fluid and a non-abrasive wipe (PecPad). For quick cleaning in the field, I prefer to use a microfiber cloth without fluid.
