HDR Editing

Well finally made it around to doing a HDR the other night. The results were fun but not post worthy as I do have my mediocre reputation to up hold. :o:)
Question is should you PP each picture separately or is PP done only after all three pictures have been merged together?

Thats a good question. I usually work on the final merged photo. However, there was a set I took of the inside of a church. I purposely used the wrong White Balance. Later I regretted that move. So I will be working on each photo first then merging them. Then a final tweek if necessary.

Well maybe this weekend I can get some shots that will work for HDR. Then give it another go, maybe even something worth posting. I'm using Paint Shop Pro X2 for the HDR and it is a bit limited compared to stand alone HDR programs but it's what I have for now.

I usually use the HDR software first, then do additional changes. When I was first playing around with it I ran the raw pictures through DxO first, basically letting that program do what it's supposed to for that particular camera/lens combination, then ran those through Photomatix. I thought that was a good combination at the time (seemed to line up the frames better since I was hand-holding) but my new camera is not yet supported by DxO, so I don't bother and I'm not convinced it made any difference. Even with the stand-alone programs, you'll still most likely want to do additional pp after the HDR software.
