Default Help with Big Hands

I am trying to decide on a new digital camera for my Dad. He currently uses an old Sony -- one of the ones that uses floppys for storage. I want to increase the resolution, but he doesn't want to give up the 10x zoom that he has now. The other big factor is that his hands are big -- big, fat fingers so small buttons are hard for him to use.

I am looking at a few things now -- Nikon Coolpix 5700, Canon Powershot Pro90, Nikon SLR D100. Any idea what might be best for big hands? He is an amateur -- would the SLR be overkill? I was considering it because it is slightly larger than the regular digitals.

couple of others to think about with 10X Optical and under $500 would be the Olympus 2100UZ and E100 RS. Both are good size cams. Hey got idea, if you can post picture of hands we can cut and pastes cams to them , Yes Sony that brought us the Beta video player, floppy disk cam and memory stick next year will bring ...
Getting serious once you have had 10X optical nnthing less is "FUN" to use.
Good Luck,
