Help me make a choice between Canon S230 and S30

I am planning to buy a digi cam at the end of March, and i narrowed down my choice to Canon S230 and S30.

my question is..

Which camera take better quality pics overall? S230 or S30?
and which one is more fun to play around?

if you were me, which one will you pick?

feel free to leave your comments! thank you!

I'm shallow, sue me

I'd go with the S230 for two reasons. The first is the size - smaller is better. The second is that it doesn't have a sliding flap - moveable parts are bad.

Yes, it's a pretty shallow take on these two, but for me that's what would make the choice. If there was a serious discrepancy between the two in terms of photo quality then there might be room for consideration, but looking at Steve's sample pics there doesn't seem to be such a huge difference in photo quality.

As a rule I don't participate in these threads (and I assume the same reason most people don't), because I (we) can't tell you which camera you will like! First of all because we don't know your needs. Secondly because we may not have tried either camera. In my case, both of those cameras are toys (to me)...since they both have separate viewfinders they both suffer from parallax errors which makes them useless for me (I prefer a camera that has a TTL (Through The Lens) viewfinder like an SLR does).

If I can make a suggestion, ask in the Canon forum here...you'll get more responses from there as it's your target audience, and there's more of a chance that someone there will have used one or both of those cameras.
