Default HELP Please, My Nikon D40 aperture control lever won't move.

When looking into the mirror box, the lever at the 9 o'clock position, usually can be pushed down without resitance, at least that happens on my good D40 body. On the other D40 I have that is giving me a shutter error, "press shutter again error message", does not push down and I think that is causing the error message. Does anyone have any experience with this and can suggest how to get it un-stuck (without sending it in for repair). TIA
