High ISO comparison, Pentax k-x and Canon T1i
3 Attachment(s)
I thought I would put up some comparison shot between 2 entry level dslr that shoot at 12800 iso. As allot of question comes in about low light image quality. IS was active on the handle shots, and off for the long exposure shot.
The first on up will be the pentax follow by the canon. Ranging between 3200, 6400, 12800 iso. |

Here are side by side long exposure at 200iso mounted to a tripod follow by the crops, pentax follow by the canon

I could not figure out why in Aperture mode that the canon chose 10 sec vs 6 sec for the pentax. No EV was apply on any shots.

Interesting set. I notice that, in the first set of pictures, the Canon shots are overall brighter, for the same exposure times, indicating to me that the actual ISO sensitivity of the Canon is a bit higher.
Different cameras have different methods of determining exposure, and it may just be a matter of where the zones are located and how the firmware is written. On first look, I thought the exposures would be different on the first set of shots, as well. Thanks for the comparison. brian |

Here is the canon at -1/3 ev, it gave a exposure of 8 sec closer to the pentax

Brain,
Thanks, it is just pretty wild to see the hugh difference between the 2 different camera. But pentax is more dynamic while the canon is closer to the actual colors in the long exposure. Quote:

Actually I was consider posting this for a month now. But have been very busy to go through the photo as I was on vacation. I have some down time right now waiting for my flight. So I have some time to post this thread. ;)
