from looking at pictures of petal hoods on a z1/z2, myself and another stevesforum member, monza76,noticed that the hood does obstruct the line-of-sight of its RAPIDAF sensor mounted above the lens and below the flash.

does this passive AF sensor rely on line-of-sight upon its subject of focus? Does mounting this hood distract or reduce the performance of the camera's focusing system?

are there any other cameras where a hood could obstruct the line-of-sight with its sensoring equipment?
