How do I go about looking for a local photography club?
Hi again all,

I'm wondering how I go about looking for a local photography club near me?

Incase anyone knows of one near me I live in Oxnard, Ventura County, California.

Thanks and have a good night.

Sometimes local camera stores have camera clubs listed on their website. I found the following entry at

" [email protected]
Channel Islands Photographic Society:
PSA liaison: Florence Johnston, FPSA, 220 Ash St., Oxnard, CA 93033
The club meets every third Wednesday of the month, 7:00PM, at the First Presbyterian Church, 850 Ivywood St., Oxnard, California. Currently holds slide competitions only, every other month. Alternate month's programs are presented by members or outside speakers. Monthly field trips to local places of interest, or social get-togethers. The club publishes a monthly newsletter, and is a member of PSA."

I don't know if the email address is connected to this entry, or the previous (it's not obvious on the page).

Since they are a member of PSA, I looked up what that was:

"Photographic Society of America" (I assume.)

Maybe they have a list of clubs... Ah, here it is:

I know for a fact that there are is at least one group in my area which is not listed (and they are very good)... but I guess that shouldn't surprise me.

If you have a research librarian in your town library, they might be able to look up clubs in your area. Many libraries have books which list organizations at the national level. They might also have info about local clubs.

In addition to searching the PSA site, you can also contact your local community college's photography program.

Also, try Googling on one (or all) of the following:

Ventura County
Photo Club
Photography Club
Camera Club
