With most of the digital cameras the other informations like shutter speed, aparture, date etc also gets saved along with the images as EXIF.
But sometimes those data could be little personal or confidential, how to discard that (EXIF) data from the images? is it possible? regards.. saiko |

The easiest way is with a photo editor that doesn't know about the existance of Exif...in my case I use a pre-Exif photo editor where if I want the Exif code in it I have to use a different program to add it after the edited image has been saved.
If you image editor doesn't fall into that category, you could try the "Export" feature to see if that does it. I think the best way is to use the freeware program Exifer, http://www.friedemann-schmidt.com/software/exifer/ It edits Exif info without harming the picture (recompressing it), and it *CAN* remove Exif info...in the program just click on the picture (after you are in the right directory), click on the Exif menu and then "Remove"...that's all that's needed to delete the Exif info (including the Exif thumbnail) from a picture. |

I have just the opposite question. How do you ADD EXIF data to an image. I am in the process of scanning my slide and negative collection (a big job!!) and I would like to at least add the shooting date to the images, exposure info also, if I have it.

Shall I repeat the above message, Exifer can do stuff like that, and it's free. To be honest, I've only really used it for copying Exif info from an original print to a copy...never actually tried entering raw data.

If I'm not mistaken, theres mention of a free noise-reduction program called Noiseware in the "Noise Reduction Software" thread (newbie, not sure how to post link to it) that specifically mentions removing the EXIF. Worth a look?

Saiko,
To add to Mikefellh's comments, Exif "Removes" the exif data and places it in a new separate data file. And you can also "Restore" the exif data back into original image file...Harvey :-) |
