Indoor low light flash pictures
 

I have a Kodak 260. I like to print some of what I shoot, usually @ 4x6, sometimes @8x10. Problem is, when I'm shooting indoors in low light(e.g. at a wedding or some like venue), I get a lot of noise in the black tones which I can't fix without a lot of time and collateral damage to other areas of the picture. I'm thinking of buying a new camera @ 4MP. Will that help solve my problem, or am just shooting in the dark...:P

A P.S. to original post. I'm looking at Nikon 4500; Canon S40, Canon G2 or Minolta F100. Would like some advice as to biggest bang for the buck.

I wonder if your camera is auto setting a higher ISO which is giving you more noise. I keep my D7 set at fixes ISO 100 except when I'm specifically shooting low light non-flash hand held then set it to fixed 800 and accept the noise.

Something to consider is curve control. If you have an editor that has a contrast curve adjustment you can set a threshold where everything below is completley black and do it with little alteration of the rest of the image.
