What to charge depends on the going rate for the type/location/publisher, etc). If you took the photo, you own the copyright...never sell your copyright (& register it too)!

When I was stringing for My local newspaper the rate was $35.00 for a one time use with a credit of My name printed along with the picture. If it went AP I recieved another $35.00 for each paper that purchased it. It was easy and fun doing it. I had a scanner and usually was on the scene and finished before the staff photographers ever showed up. That was the old days of "FILM"* so I had to get back to the newspaper office to run the "film"* and make a print of the good ones. They drum scaned the print into the computer to make it useable for their purpose.:|:|:|:|:|:|:|
* "FILM" is something You used to have to put in Your Camara to make photographs. It was expensive to buy, expensive to process and just a royey pain in the a__!! You never knew for sure You had a picture until all of the work was done. |
