We review each camera on its own merit, we have never done comparisons or shoot- outs. Early on when we developed the standard for our reviews we decided we would eval each camera based on it's features, fit and feel, images produced, and the MSRP.

The two cameras you have inquired about were from two different seasons. The 710 was announced by Canon around September and we posted the review in November in time for the holiday season. The 570 was introduced in January at CES and Canon made it available to us in April so we posted the review this past April.

Having said that you may have noticed during the past month many manufacturers are announcing cameras again for the holiday season. In January another round of cameras will be announced around the time of CES. Then along comes PMA, another industry trade show, and even more cameras are announced, ususally prosumer and dSLR's. Now in 2008 aound the end of September Photokina will be on in Germany and this show is where major tehcnology annoucements are made. So, you can see there is a cycle to all of this. For this reason a camera reviewed in November was reviewed basedon the usual criteria and the other cameras in the Canon line-up at the time. The camera in April was from the following year's offers.

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"You may also note the 570 was $249 when it was announced while the 710 was $399 so the cameras have different features and are intended for a differentlevel of user.

Thank you for visiting our site and for sending this email.
