LCD image better than picture?

Hi,
I was shooting the moon last night, literally not figuratively; and noticed that the image (while composing) on the EVF was much better (exposure wise) than the review of the shot taken, again, on the EVF. The image before shooting looked perfectly exposed, and the shot review looked over exposed. Anyone know why that might be?
Thanks,
...... john

Alright. I think I discovered the problem. It seems that the viewer image is calibrated to show ideas exposure based on the assumption that the camera's setting are set to auto. When I use the camera in auto, the EVF show me exactly what I'll get for my image. Any other settings may result in something other than what the viewer shows.

Do you have an exposure indicator in your EVF , or a camera setting which allows the EVF to show WYSIWYG?

Hi,
No, this is an old, actually very old, Kodak Z712. There's not much on it. I've been using it at iso 64 and spot metering for birds etc. The truth is that it's pretty good at setting the exposure, so I'll leave it on auto. If that doesn't do it, I'll be back.

G'day John

Also ... the EVF / LCD screens always show the image "as seen here & now" whereas the exposed image shows the results of the actual exposure. If the photo is under-exposed, the result will be 'dark' and vice versa

Does this help??

Hi Phil,
Oh yes, that's the exactly problem; the camera seems to assume auto settings for what shows before shooting; while the exposed image is different, if I use other than auto.
Thanks,
..... john
