I've been trying out several cameras recently, but continue running into the poor visability problem when used in sunlight. I'm considering getting a hooded screen shade for my present camera (Canon A80) such as those found on this website: www*****een-shade.com
Does anyone have first-hand experience with these or similar shades?

This is a perennial topic, and it's astonishing manufacturers leave it to ingenuity and 3rd party accessory suppliers. If you search on"LCD hood" you'll find lots of discussion about it.

I, of course, favour my own solutions, one of which you see below, and the other of which is a classic photographer's black cloth over the head, held in in place by a sunhat. Unfortunately if I'm photographing my family, they run away in embarrassment before I get properly set up.

I have one of the Hoodman shades for my Minolta Dimage S414 and I think is a total waste of time and money. I can't see the screen any better with it than without it.

Why not just make one out of cardboard painted black, and held by either velcro or elastics around the camera body.

Many of us have drawers full of one kind of LCD shade or another. The ONLY really good LCD for sun light that I know of is on the Contax SL300R T It works as is without a shade in bright sun.
