![]() ![]() I have had an Olympus C-4000 for a while now, and I love the pictures that it takes. EXCEPT :? the lens cap that came with it bothers me. Maybe its the way that it swings back and forth when I'm trying to keep my hand still. :x It also comes off very easily. Many times i take it out of my bag to discover that it has come off and is rustling around with all my junk. And if you're not careful when you're putting it back on, you could easily scratch the lens. So, I wanted to ask: Is there a type of lens cap that I could buy that DOESN'T do this? :?: I'd be S ![]() |

About the lens cap swinging around, all caps that I know of will do this. This problem is fixable, however, if you either store the cap in your pocket or bag while shooting.

My Oly 4000 lens cap used to annoy me, too. This may be what you're looking for:
http://www.olympuscap.homestead.com/ What it doesn't do: it doesn't open automatically when you power on/extend the lens; it doesn't flap around in the breeze What it does do: provide better protection fenlander |

I use the same lens cap as Fenlander. I like it much better than the Olympus cap.

These caps are usually used for rifle telescopic sights (Butler and Creek or Polar Caps), they are brilliant.
I'd have a serious think about using a CLA1 with UV filter too. |

That flip-open design does look preferable to a dangling lens cap on a tether. I do have a couple of questions about it, though:
1. Is there any vignetting at full wide angle? 2. The link doesn't reference the C-2100; does anyone know if it will work with this camera? |

Ig,
No vignetting: the cap is only a few mm longer than the retracted lens. Can't comment on the 2100. fenlander |
