The English language suffers daily on message boards, but on a photography board, I wonder if we could at least correctly spell the word "lens" (singular) and "lenses" (plural). "Lense" is not a singular or plural form of anything!
|
Chillax buddy, I'm sure everyone here knows what "lense" are...
http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/lense Huh? What? "Chillax" is not a word... D'oh!:blah: |
Another good over here is APERATURE. But then the modern trend is, it doesn`t matter how you spell it as long as it is understood.
|
The one that drives me nuts is "loose" being used in place of "lose".

Yes you see lense quite a bit, including eBay but apparently it is a variant that is in the dictionary.

This prompted a HUGE debate over at the forums on dpreview! *Note: In the interest of accuracy and sanity, spelling has been corrected in this post. |
If you go to the link that was posted to an online dictionary, you will see written:
Variant; lense. |
Reader, you changed your original post, like to tell us why?

Kidding , of course. I'm not to picky about spelling or typos. Since this is an international forum, and the Queen's English is a bit different than the American version, and there are other variants as well, it is best to let small things go. brian |
Once upon a time, English was a required subject in the British school system with spelling and reading comprehension being important.
Now, it seems, anything goes. I have seen posts where I had no idea what the poster was trying to say. |
