Hi there folks!

First of all, I just sent a message to the administrator of the forums hoping we could get a forum dedicated to lighting!

Secondly, I am a videographer, and as such I have a lot of professional video lights (read: cost lots of money and don't want to buy more unless I have to :P)

I was wondering, as seeing as digital (still) camera's use CCD's and really aren't a lot different other than resolution to todays digital camcorders, is it possible to use your video lights?

I figured you could set up a nice lighting scenario and then use your camera's manual white balance to balance the lighting.

What problems can anyone forsee using video lights this way and also, what advantages would there be in obtaining "proper" photography lights instead.

Also, does anyone know of an affordable starter kit for photography lights (3 point) that might be worth me looking at?

Curiously yours,

Julian Maytum
