Hello,
As I was cleaning a fingerprint off my new Canon S2 lens; I noticed a small lint particle inside the glass. Can this be removed? Is this common?I haven't uploaded my pictures yet so not sure if it can be seen. It's very tiny. Thanks...as you may guess... I'm new to photography... |

I have the same problem with the viewfinder on my camcorder. Havent figured it out yet, and dont want to break anything trying to get in there.

I suspect that a tiny piece of lint inside the lens will not be visible in the pictures. However, this may depend on exactly where it is located. Your lens actually has several individual glass or plastic lens elements in it. Thenre may be ten or more. If the lint is near the front element, it probably won't show. If is is near the rear element, it is more likely to be visible.
Small items like hair or specks of dust on the front of the lens generally don't show because they are so far out of focus, they just blend into the noise. I shot a sunrise picture of the sun coming up over Mt Hood in central Oregon through an extremely dirty window. I put the lens right up against the glass and the dirt did not show at all.
