As to sensor "measurebating," I expect that anyone who still feels the need to shoot HDR to get the image that he wants may disagree with this silly dismissivness. There is real value to high dynamic range. If your aesthetic does not require it, that hardly means that it is meaningless. I am quite content to let the sensor manufacturers continue to provide more value, just as I am quite content that microprocessor manufacturers didn't stop innovating once folks who only compose text messages found their need for speed met.
