I have a sigma 70-300mm with macro mode. I am trying to figure out how to use the macro! I can't seem to focus in as tightly as I'd like to. I am using manual focus, but still find that I can't fill the frame with my shot the way I'd like to. Is there anything else I can do, short of investing in a true macro lens?
Thanks! |

Reading the lens specs you need to use the lens set at 300mm to get 1:2 focusing anything less and it won't fill the frame as well. Also it is not 1:1 macro which would give you an image and subject the same size but 1:2 which means your smallest subject is twice the size of the sensor.
You could try close up lenses which screww onto the filter thread as a cheaper alternative to a true macro lens, the quality can be good but it won't match a true macro lens. |
