Default Minolta Xt vs. Elph-S230 o S400, having owned Elph S100

I want to move up from my S100 because it lacks a movie mode and night shots tend not to light up the objects very well. Also, I like that the Xt is a smaller camera to tote around.

I am considering the Xt, but am unsure if I will increase my photo quality from my S100, especially for night shots.

Is the Xt's photo performance for night shots better than my S100 or would I be much more statisfied with the S230 or S400 instead for the night shots?

The S400 has a 16 second shutter with long exposure noise reduction for night shots. You would definitely get better night shots with it than the Xt.

You seem interested in the movie mode and the S400 has the small 320 X 240 movies. They have sound but I donít find them very useful. Several makers have small cameras out with a 640 X 480 movie mode with sound which gives nice movies that will fill a TV screen. Whether you can get a camera with manual exposure and long exposure noise reduction and 640 X 480 movies I donít know.
