Jasc (Paint Shop Pro) has an eyeball calibration program that I've tried to use but it always leaves the screen too bright for other uses. I am using a 17" LCD flat screen. My biggest problem is that prints frequently come out too dark.

I use a Gretag Macbeth's Eye One to calibrate my monitors. The thing I liked about it was the easy calibration setup (mac and pc) and unlimited license to calibrate as many monitors as I need/use.

all I do is set my 19" Viewsonic P95F+ monitor to 1280x960 with the image going to near the edges of the screen (within about 1/8 inch or so), then I leave it alone.

I've tried - with the dodgy Adobe thing, where I had to manually select which colour closely matched the given one, but I didn't like how it turned out.
Since I use my puter for more than photographic manipulation, I prefer the look of an uncalibrated one. ![]() The way I look at it, the CRT only has 3 coloured electron guns, so no matter how accurate one calibrates it, the colour is ever only a mixture of 3 colours. |

I used Adobe, it was in my price range (free). I've tried a couple of others in my price range and think it's the best.

vito, if your runing xp,
go to control panel, and if you dont see "adobe gamma", go over to "other control panel options"(with the little gear thingy) and it should be there, just follow the directions it gives... thats how i get there, im sure there is a simpler way though.... brad |
